Arua Diocese Embarks on the Construction of an Exquisite Pharmaceutical Warehouse for Joint Medical Stores.

The day of 9th July 2023 witnessed the grand inauguration of the construction for Arua Diocese's Pharmaceutical Warehouse. This facility, intended to be utilized by Joint Medical Stores (JMS), will serve as a repository for medicinal supplies catering to the regions of West Nile, Eastern Congo, and South Sudan.

The occasion was graced by a moment of spiritual reverence, as His Lordship, Bishop Sabino Ocan Odoki, led an immaculate Eucharistic Celebration joint by multitude of devout Christians from across Arua Diocese. In his homily, the Bishop portrayed this endeavor as one dedicated to the well-being of humanity, beseeching the faithful to pray for the project's realization. The Bishop expressed his appreciation to Joint Medical Stores, acknowledging their invaluable partnership in the establishment of a medicine repository that will immensely benefit the region

"You know from the gospel, how much Jesus cared for the sick. The Church today continues this noble ministry of healing, operating hospitals, health centers, and pharmacies across the globe. The Church has got hospitals, health centers, pharmacies all over the world to carry on the work of Christ and that is the healing. So today we are launching the construction of a ware house that shall be used as store for medicine that will be used in the whole region of West Nile, part of congo as well as Southern sudan. Hence it is a big project and a big responsibility for Arua Diocese. We pray that this is a success. So we want to thank the partners , first and furmost joint medical store. Which is a project of the catholic church in uganda and the Anglican church in uganda." Said the Bishop.

Furthermore, the Bishop extended his gratitude to the partners at Missio Invest, whose generous loan will enable Arua Diocese to construct this splendid Pharmaceutical Warehouse. He did, however, mention that in the past, Missio Invest had provided funding without expectation of repayment. Yet, times have changed, and the funds are now disbursed as loans. Therefore, diligent efforts must be exerted to repay the loan, ensuring that others may also receive assistance. He reassured the faithful that this project arrives as a blessing to the Arua Diocese, as it shall be under its ownership, generating revenue to support further development and activities. He expressed his profound appreciation to the Christian community for warmly embracing this venture. Additionally, the Bishop found great delight in the presence of the younger generation, recognizing that they will serve as lifelong witnesses to the undertaking. He urged them to embrace this project with enthusiasm, surpassing that of their elder counterparts.

Bishop conveyed a grave concern regarding the well-being of humanity in the face of escalating environmental degradation in our world today. He urged the children present to plant a tree each within their homes after the tree planting event during the ceremony. "Today we speak so much of the enviroment , if our enviroment is not okay, we shall also not be okay. The enviroment plays a big role in our health. Today we speak so much of weather changes. Rains not coming at the right time for farmers, it is because we have done demage to the environment. And it is affecting the cycle. I was reading an article recently that said the biggest forest which acts as the lungs of the earth have been depleted. And we are left with only one big forest and that is the Amazon forest in south America, and now our world is like a human person with only one lung. So just as we go for medicne, we should also see that we do the same in ensuring that our enviroment is secured. If you cut a tree, plant g to also plant more trees today. The children, i am going to give you a task.I want you today, as you see us planting trees, go to your homes and plant one tree also.Plant it some where. After eating a mongo, ovacado , paw paw or any fruit ,you plant the seed. We have to invest in our children to change our enviroment for the better. "

In conclusion, the Bishop implored the faithful to embrace lives with humility, recognizing that true strength lies in modesty. He emphasized that the Lord has bestowed upon us the revelation that humility holds great power.
